Agua Bonita

Woman-owned Business

When Kayla Castañeda, founder of Agua Bonita, was growing up in California’s Central Valley, her grandpa would bring home superripe fruit from the fields that he couldn’t stand to let go to waste. This fruit would be sprinkled with chile powder or made into aguas frescas for the whole family to enjoy. When she lost her job mid-pandemic, Kayla took it as “when life gives you lemons, make aguas frescas.” She decided to create something that is reflective of her culture, her family and her grandpa’s teachings of never letting food go to waste, and Agua Bonita was born.
