Recipe
These spiced up burgers with a spicy cream cheese filling make a delicious statement.
Ingredients
Burgers
- 1 pound ground buffalo (or lean hamburger)
- 1 pound ground pork sausage (or lean hamburger)
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons canned green chilies, diced
- 1 small jalapeno, minced
- 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
- 1/2 lime, zest and juice
Filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons canned green chiles, diced
- 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
Preparation
- In a medium bowl, combine all burger ingredients and mix well.
- In a small bowl, combine all filling ingredients and mix well.
- Divide the burger mix into 8 equal portions and form into thin patties. Place 2 tablespoons filling in the center of one patty and top with another patty, making sure edges are filled in.
- Grill over medium heat/low flame to desired doneness. Remove from grill and let rest a few minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestion
Serve with pico de gallo on a toasted sourdough bun.
