In 2006, Michael Pan, founder and CEO of Pan’s, made a trip to Malaysia, visiting family he hadn’t seen in years. Many of his family members are vegetarian Buddhists, and they introduced him to a variety of recipes. When he tried a snack made from shiitake mushrooms, he knew he had something to share with the world. In 2018, he officially launched Pan’s Mushroom Jerky in four delicious flavors, all inspired by his family’s original recipe.
